Defa's Appetite

When words are no longer sensible, pictures are the one that keep us sane

Notes

Destination: Hong Kong

Date: 3rd - 6th June 2011

Day 1:

7 am Flight means waking up at 3.30 am, thank you very much:

ps: We took Jet Star flight, it costs IDR 3.2 mio for return including 20kg baggage.

Transit in Changi, SG:

——————————

Arrived in HK International airport at 3 pm local time, took the Airport Express train to the city:

ps: Airport Express is highly recommended as it is much faster than taking a cab or private hire car. With only HKD 250, you will get return ticket Airport-city-Airport and unlimited 3 days MTR ticket! Get it by showing your passport at the counter right after the baggage claim area.

The Lanson Place Hotel, Causeway Bay

ps: Overall, Lanson place is very satisfying. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and the cleanliness is outstanding. We also had our rooms upgraded for free and  they also have a small comfortable library to chill. The location is strategic as it is only one bloc away from Causeway Bay MTR station and within a walking distance to Times Square or SOGO. It is located right in front The Consulate General of Indonesia hence, to save up some money, there is a ‘warung’ next door ready to sell Indomie for you to cook in your room’s kitchen :).

Day 2: SHOP-SHOP-SHOP

The Street of Hong Kong:

ps: Make time to explore the local foods and street vendors!

City Central

H&M : My ultimate shopping destination

ps: I suggest for those chasing H&M’s goodies, do come to the store right after it opens (10 am normally and 11 am in Sunday). You will be amazed to arrive at 10 am and already find people lining up in front up the store. Don’t worry, as the store opens, we all will get inside and comfortably shopping. After lunch time, the store is over crowded that it is impossible to even get yourself a fitting room. So I think it is pointless to shop after lunch. Note that there is no toilet inside BUT you can always sneak in to McDonald’s just across the street ;-).

Shopping tips:

As you already know, Hong Kong is CHEAPER! it is! Dont think twice to get the stuff you like as it will be overwhelming to come back to the store the next day or in the evening. Compared to Indonesia, these are the brands that I find cheaper: Longchamp, ZARA, Birkenstocks, Nike, Adidas, Kate Spade, Body Shop, Steve Madden and ESPRIT. Maybe there are more but my sore feet didn’t allow me to explore as much.

Make sure you visit Tung Tjung (something like that). There is a City Gate mall right in front of the Tung Tjung MTR station and it is a factory outlet mall. Everything is on sale but the items are a bit outdated. However, try to find classic fashion items then consider yourself winning a lottery.

Day 3: DISNEYLAND!

Here you leave today, and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy’ - Disneyland welcome greeting

 Welcome to Disneyland:

ps: If you’re planning to visit Disneyland (why wouldn’t you?), don’t wake up too early to avoid tiredness, have a relaxing lunch then head to Disneyland (try to arrive around 1 pm). In the summer, the weather will be unbearable around 12-3 pm, so you could bring hats, umbrellas and sunglasses. Don’t forget sunblock! Make sure you book the fast pass for all attraction that offer the facility. That way, you could ride one, then relaxing, the ride another one then eat something, then ride other and do some shopping. The must try attractions are Space Mountain, River cruise, Lion King show, Sleeping beauty castle and Tarzan’s tree house.

Minnie Mouse and the tourists:

ps: Don’t missed out the fireworks show around 8 pm. And in case you haven’t satisfied yet with the shopping, the stores in Disneyland are still open ‘till 9.30 pm. To avoid line for MTR from Disneyland, you could also have dinner here. They have mickey shaped carrots :).

Day 4: No energy left = no more pictures
